(MHI), two manufacturers of power generation equipment, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to co-develop the “next generation” steam turbine for use in gas turbine combined-cycle power plants. Combustion (Gas) Turbines: Combustion turbine plants operate on the Brayton cycle. Steam turbine power plants operate on a Rankine cycle. GE Energy and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. IPL will retire six existing units at the facility and retire or refuel four at its Harding Street Generating Station. The $631 million combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power station will go in Morgan County at IPL's Eagle Valley Generating Station, about five miles north of Martinsville.
